On 11th February Sheffield Hallam played Ibb Polonia London as part of Super Saturday in All Saints Sport Centre in Sheffield. It was my first ever volleyball game in the UK and I still can’t believe this sport isn’t more popular on the island.
I initially went mostly to see Polonia, as I’ve heard a lot about this team. They usually play in London, which is quite far away for me to travel but this time they came all the way to Sheffield. Both teams are part of the National Volleyball League with Polonia currently on a 2nd place of the 16/17 league table and Hallam on a 3rd place nine points behind. I have to say I was surprised seeing the game on such a good level as I didn’t expect much from a country that doesn’t talk about volleyball at all. The guys from Sheffield gave an absolutely amazing performance and won the match 3:0.
